Reviews about REDS Midtown Tavern
- 4 / 5By Barry DNice place centrally located. Busy on Thursday night. Food was great. I had Pork Tenderloin with Gnocchi, my guest had Steak and Frites. Both where very good. Service was very good. Would eat here again for sure.May 02, 2017
- 3 / 5By Dina ShahI'm usually pretty generous with my reviews. Having been in the industry, I always give the benefit of the doubt to the restaurant/bar. I am going to be blunt with this place because that's how bad of an experience I had. I wanted to like this place as it is literally 2 mins from my condo. Was hoping that it'll be my go to bar. It has a great vibe and nice interiors. However the service was slow and not friendly at all. Took 15-20 mins for someone to notice us and handout menus. We were sitting right opposite the bar, pretty prominently placed. Also, the server had an attitude. The food and drinks came on time but then again, my friend had to snapchat her cocktail with the tagline "tiniest cocktail ever". Reds is one of those places with small cocktails and fancy looking small food portions. I was still okay and left an above average tip. But the server didn't even bother to say the usual things like "thank you" . Not even a smile. He maintained a straight face and showed attitude throughout the experience. Wouldn't go here again. I find this place cold and pretentious. I left feeling majorly put off.April 20, 2017
- 4 / 5By Andy SummersI've been meaning to come to Reds for sometime. Well reviewed and recommended in circles around the office. Often used by colleagues for lunch time office celebrations...birthdays, seasonal celebrations etc.
I was a bit nervous because I'm more of a slow, intimate, quite kind of a diner. Less of a steakhouse, loud music kind of a guy. Some of that might be because I'm a vegetarian.
The setting was intimate, gentle lighting. Music a touch loud for my delicate constitution but hey, 80's music is always a winner.
The food was above, way above expected. Garden salad, truffle fries to start and there was the flash back to Tuscany.
My partner had the salmon dish, fingerling potatoes with heirloom carrots and snow peas. 11 out of 10.
I had the vegetarian, vegetable fricasee. Delicious, perfectly cooked and bursting in flavour if not a little too busy with the aforementioned flavours. 9.5/10
Apple pie with cheddar, outstanding. Espresso delicious. Staff professional, friendly and attentive. What else can be said? Shout out to Felix the waitstaff for making the visit memorable.March 31, 2017 - 4 / 5By Kevin D'CostaGreat burger and bar. I love the decor and very attentive service. Not that popular with the younger crowd and I could sense a little bit of hesitation from the hostess to show us to our seats. This could be because we were not suits or because we didn't have a reservation. I enjoyed myself, I think they could use a little more variety in their menu. I may return.February 23, 2017
- 5 / 5By Christopher LloydVery nice modern bar/restaurant. It's good for groups or a great place to come sit at the bar. The bar has a large variety of drinks. Only knock would be that they don't serve pints. They serve those 14 or 16 oz glasses of beer instead. Food is good, service is excellent and it's usually fairly busy.November 18, 2016
