La Palette is not for everyone.

    Which is good.

I've been coming here since it was located in Kingston Market and if you worried that move might effect this gem of place, don't. I've had anniversaries at the bar, booked tables for two huge nights out with the boys and never heard a complaint from anyone I've gone with.

The bar has been well stocked with spirits and beers which are actually interesting. You'll find a collection of absinthe, porters and stout beers to wake the pallet. Not a bottle of Bud or Canadian in sight.

The food is french. Period. The portions are reasonable, rich, and built to be savoured. The team here takes great pride in their work so don't rush your meal.

If you're in the mood for an adventure and not a card holding member of PETA - I'd recommend the charmingly named "Quack and Track" a pairing of perfectly seared horse and duck meats with all the trimmings.

Worth Noting: Be on the lookout for Lemon Bucket Orkestra on the occasional weekend who infuse the late night vibe with their unique blend of Balkan-Klezmer-
Gypsy-Punk-Super-Party sound. I've seen people jump out of the smoking pens at the club across the street when this band kicks into high gear.

Atmosphere and setup were the best. It's like a normal family restaurant in Provence. Really great bay window seating at front and nice bar. Kitchen is right in the dining room and it's very cool everything is all together. Wine menu looked pretty good. Menu had great stuff. You don't always see this kind of stuff. Horse, venison, duck and more. My cassoulet could have been more hot when served. Also could have better quality sausages in it.

My girlfriend and I stopped in after a Headstones concert for "just a drink" and ended up closing the place! Excellent selection of fine spirits ! Both the staff and the other patrons were really kööl! I'm definitely going back! Jay the Viking....

I thought I died and went to heaven. Such a cute place with a great French feeling to it. They have some weird food (Horse Tar-Tar) but the mussels were really good in a tomato-based broth, and then the foie gras - oh my... They served up two really large pieces seared to perfection, with marshmallow, graham crackers, chocolate, and cranberries (I think they were cranberries). A stranger combination I have not encountered, but it works like magic. And get this - it's only $25!!! That would be triple the price anywhere else. This place is a steal! Everything is like 5-star fine dining quality but at very affordable prices. A great value. One very happy customer here.
