  There's just something about the Imperial. It's not the shiniest pub, and it doesn't have the most gourmet food you're ever going to find. I've got some good memories there (seeing friends play the back room, going there after fun outings downtown), but I think it's the all-are-welcome, easy-going atmosphere that makes the place feel like its own little community.
  
  The only other thing I'll say, is that I consider their nachos to be the best I've had in Toronto - and trust me, I've had a lot of nachos in Toronto. It's just a ton of chips with several tons of cheese, plopped into a tinfoil-wrapped pan and baked perfectly. I got the Izzy-style ones that included delicious beef chili...every single bite was heaven.

  Entered with 10 people so auto gratuity was a must and understood. Service was great at first until they realized they had to auto grat. Then servers were MIA after food arrived. Waited 1h to get drinks and was asked to get the tables order and take it to the bar. Plates did not get cleared, we had to clear them ourselves. When asked if there was anything they could do about service they said nothing. After much discussion they took off the auto gratuity, letting us choose our own tip.

  Was here with a group. Service was terrible. Will not be back. Ordered food and drinks. Drinks took a little while 10-15 min. Food took forever (40 min). Once we got food didn't see any wait staff for a hour and a half. Tried multiple times to order rounds of drinks, order was either lost or went elsewhere. We were told we could individually go up to bar and order drinks, it wouldn't mess up the bill because it was all on one. As we were more than 6 people we had an auto gratuity of 18%, for the first time ever we asked for it to be removed. After a long discussion with a lost looking manager (blond, round glasses), had it removed for people to chose their own tips. Will not go back.

  The library lounge, upstairs from the pub is a staple of Toronto life. The food is under rated (sous vide chicken wings anyone?) and a small but decent list of beers. You should come at least once in your life. Oh and yes, they still have the jute box.

  Great place to chill out. During spring to fall, the patio on the second floor is gorgeous place to spend couple of hours for beer. Foods are pretty good. The interior design and decoration reflect those aged pub in history, which I like the most about this pub. Definitely recommend to everyone.
