This place has a unique vibe. Great food. Live music upstairs. It's best for small groups, but there are a few booths that can hold about 6

The most popular dish: chicken and waffles, is the worst one there. Everything else on the menu is actually pretty good.

The restaurant's setting really gives an authentic Harlem vibe, everything there was bright ruby red with a tint of gold. It was a nice environment. The menu was also Harlem theme, having it in a record. The music also stayed in theme, playing Harlem-theme music, though it seems like they were only playing Lauryn Hill.

I ordered the popular dish, chicken and waffles with a side of bacon mac-n-cheese. The chicken was clearly bruised, the chicken was mostly black and red, so internal bleeding definitely happened. The breading was sub-par - it was good but it was only coated on one side. The waffles were also okay, they were made well, but they were too fluffy to cut it with the chicken. The dish also has three dipping sauce: spicy, maple, and gravy, so it was mote of a dipping dish than you drizzling it. The only thing that was good was the side, the mac-n-cheese was a good homecooked food, the bacon wasn't even those bacon flakes (like a lot of restaurants who make bacon bits) so that was a plus.

When I looked around, almost every customer ordered anything else but the chicken and waffles, even though the waitress continually said that the dish was the most popular one in the menu. Apparently nobody else thinks so.

Great little place for Caribbean inspired fare. Servers and chefs are flexible and knowledgeable. Prices are decent. Live events upstairs are a must attend if you are adventurous and open. Some really talented gems can be found at the right event.

I wanted this to be a better experience. We came for lunch and were sat down after a bit. Understandable since there was a single waitress who looked a bit overwhelmed. You can tell if the tables are being left uncleared for awhile.

Foodwise, we ordered the chicken & waffles and sweet potatoe hash.
The waffles were underwhelming that the maple syrup can't hide and the chicken was bland as well. My hash was fine, nothing special but no deficiencies either.

There was a draft that was quite chilling going through the restaurant and other tables have mentioned it to the waitress. It was quite distracting. Why 3 stars? Only based on the food and assuming the other issues are non recurring.

**EDIT--NOPE. TORONTO IS NOT COOL ENOUGH. CLOSED.

I really hope that Toronto is cool enough for this place to thrive. I just ate here for the first time. I had take out before and didn't get to appreciate what this place is all about. The only thing they have going against them is location, being in a place where there really isn't much.

I ate the Harlem sandwich. It was so delicious. It came with sweet potato fries and salad. Homemade catsup and mayo.

Upstairs they have a little be music venue.

I will be back to check it out for sure.

Below is my original review when I ate their food take out.

I was very impressed with the food at this place. I got it from a food delivery app so didn't experience their service or see the place and am only commenting on their food.

I got the coconut fettuccine, fried chicken, and BBQ chicken. Sides I got collard greens and their mac n cheese.

The coconut fettuccine was amazing. Like really delicious. Nice rich flavorful sauce

Their friend chicken is to die for. Crispy on the outside and juicy within. Just like it's supposed to be.

I liked their BBQ chicken but wasn't blown away by it. I bet if I only got that I would have really enjoyed it but the other 2 dishes were so stupendous it pales in comparison I guess.

Their mac n cheese is to die for as well.
