  FOOD WAS GREAT - SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE.
  
  Went there with my husband for our day off this week, and I had been looking forward to going to Caplansky's Deli for over a month now (I had to satisfy a lox and bagel craving), so we were both really excited.
  
  We got there around 2pm to have a late lunch (also to avoid the packed lunch hour rush) and at the beginning it was all pretty good, food came quickly and hot (we ordered fried pickles, latkes poutine to start) but close to mid meal it started going downhill... My husband tried for 15 minutes to catch any eye of the servers there to get some service (he wanted to get a refill on his drink), and no one approached our table (it was fairly empty in the restaurant at this point) to ask us how we were doing or anything! Finally when our server decided to come by, she just started packing our food (which we wanted to eat but were waiting for our drinks), when we did not ask for it at all. She finally did refill the drinks, but at that point, we were really thinking of ending the meal and leaving.
  
  Honestly, we were both pretty disappointed in the service. We have both worked in the service industry before (him food, me retail), and we understand how important it is to have quality customer service to keep your clients happy and coming back. Both my husband and I wanted to order dessert, but after that ordeal, we just wanted to leave.
  
  I had high expectations for them, and I love their food, but the service there will make me not want to go back again.

  Excellent smoked meat sandwich on light rye, with a side of very good potato salad and fresh-brewed coffee. (The smoked meat was so flavourful it completely obscured the taste of the dark mustard I put on it!) No clue why it's taken me this long to check them out, but I'll definitely be back!

  The smoked meat sandwiches here were excellent. It's the only place i've been to in Ontario that has comparable smoked meat to places in Montreal. The combo with fries comes with tons of fries and the sandwiches are very filling. The deli has many different kinds of mustard as well so it is suitable for a variety of people. They also have Cott's pop. I had the black cherry and it is delicious!

  Don't get me wrong, the sandwiches are great. But they are overpriced and not really all that filling. The place has great decor and ambiance, but for me its all about the food and whether its good and economical, and frankly its a place you wanna eat maybe once/twice a year. Deli food is supposed to be something that's affordable on a daily basis, and this place is more tourist priced than regular-Joe priced.

  I had a great experience at Caplansky's deli. The service is above what you would receive at many restaurants.I ordered a jewmosa and loved the flavours. I then had a plate of latkes with sour cream. I would definitely return for that. I, however, was disappointed with the mac and cheese. The dish is the direct opposite of what one would expect. There didn't seem to be any cheese on the dish. The noodles were cooked well but were bland. I am used to the traditional mac and cheese that is oozing with sauce. This dish may be a European variation. My daughter had the Caesar and loved it. I especially liked the pickle that came with the drink. Her tuna sandwich was a tasty generous portion. I would definitely return but would not recommend the mac and cheese to anyone.
