  Absolute best place in the city to find solid love jazz/blues. I'm blown away by the talent every time I am there. Great beverage options and delicious food to boot.

  The venue had a pub-like feel. Was quite nice and what one would expect for a jazz bar. The setup was good; the tables were arranged such that everyone has a view of the stage. The band was also very good and entertaining. The sound quality was excellent; not too loud that you can't have a conversation with the person in front of you but loud enough that you can enjoy the full scale of sound. The food was typical of a pub. So expect pub quality. I had the chicken fingdrs and they were very good. Overall, the food and drink were reasonably priced; expect $20 per person for a drink and meal. After 9:00, they impose a cover charge for the late band, even to guests who have been at the restaurant before the late band. I was of the mind that anyone who was already in the bar and had food and drinks should be grandfathered in to the session. Instead, they charge you $10 per person, and kick you out if you don't pay. I thought that was unpleasant. Other than that, I would go to the Rex again and recommend it.

  This was my first time here, and it was amazing. The quality of the music was mind blowing. I would recommend going on a Monday like I did, as they seem to have larger bands due to it being a rest day for people in the industry.

  Absolutely amazing location to explore Toronto! It's a jazz and blues bar with live performances every day and late into the evening. It can be quite noisy and our room was directly above the bar - but we had free entertainment when we got back in the evening which was a nice bonus. If you want a quiet room ask for one. Our room was very basic (only paid for a basic room) but as we were only using it to sleep in it was perfect - clean enough but probably needs to be refurbished some time soon. The staff were excellent! Friendly and informative! Definitely a great choice if you don't want to stay at one of many local chain hotels.

  The Rex is a classic Toronto Jazz and Blues club. This is one of the last great venues for this kind of music to see great Jazz and Blues in a small club. Sound is good. Good selection of beer with typical pub food. Not just local but international Jazz musicians play regularly here. Great place.
