  Our recent visit to the Steele's and Dufferin East Side Mario's here in Toronto, was very satisfactory. Before going to this location we had checked out some of the reviews, and after trying it out, completely disagree with some of the lower ranking comments which were given to it. Given that i travel a lot and have visited many of the locations abroad, this particular one was surprisingly better than most, and deserved to be mentioned over and above the other commentaries.

  Summary: Bad food, bad service.
  Details:
  1. came with my 2 children, wasn't given a coloring book. Asked a server for it. Her reply: "The host had to give you one".
  2. None of beers from the menu was available.
  3. Order burgers. It took 30 minutes to to receive them! Had to ask other servers.
  4. Burgers were CRAP. Very dry and generally worse the McDonald's - really.
  5. There was supposed to be a free toy with kid's meal. When I asked about it, servers reply was: "We don't have them". Even no "Sorry, we don't have them". I said that my daughter was expecting it. Server went to talk to a manager and came with toy and said: "Here is your toy".
  
  My biggest regret (besides coming there): asking for a toy after paying a bill and leaving tip :(

  Came to here to apply for a job because they had "we're hiring" posters and just to apply, the service was bad. It's quite impossible to give bad service when your just there to fill out some papers and hand in a resume. The hostess I talked to when I had filled out my application to just pointed to a seat to sit and wait for "her". No explanation whatsoever to whom "her" is, but I went to the seat and waited for "her". A good 10 minutes past and no one comes over. Mind you, it was not busy at all and probably 5-6 people were dining in the restaurant. After waiting for no one I just dropped my application at the front desk and I left. I feel bad for writing this but the management really needs to look over how trained their employees are. I'm not sure if the hostess even went to get "her" or whoever she was didn't care about coming to meet me.

  Service is quite poor at this location. Don't get me wrong, I'm not looking for anything stellar at an East side Mario's but our waitress was quite slow and she was only waiting on two tables. She failed to ask for desert and simply asked if we were done eating. Food was undercooked as well. And the all you can eat bread and salad was non existent since the waitress never came around to ask if we wanted any. She even forgot to give us a loaf when we first received our meal.

  If I could give it 0 stars I would. I have been to many East Side Mario's but this one is definitely the worst! We went there with 12 people (basketball team). The place was half empty but the wait for the drinks and food was ridiculous. Waited at least 40min. Also, they put a new server to help us who had no clue what he was doing. A drink spilled on the floor and they just left it, not thinking that it could be a hazard. Overall it was a bad experience. I will not be coming back to this location.
