  I wonder if this place used to be a bank or jewelry store - given the safes and vault. The private dining area in the vault is really cool!

  This review does not reflect anyway on the wonderful food Gio Rana's has to offer. Or, our great service in the past by the staff that has been there for years.
  
  However, I had my birthday dinner here like i have been doing for the past couple of years with large parties of 10 - 30 people, but this year it was different. We had a group of 15+ people, like every year i asked the server in the beginning of the night to separate the drink bills as suggested by our servers in past years to make the process easier at the end of the night, but our server this evening did not want to do that nor allow us to order drinks at the bar to settle the tab at the point of sale and told us its restaurant policy that they're unable to separate the bills (Which to me is a false, because I've done it before).
  
  Our server simply did not want to go the extra step to make the process and experience a good one to remember. In a huff and exasperated manner our waitress told us she will talk to the manager, she never got back to us on the manner and wouldn't allow us order from the bar when we attempted to and stopped us from being served by the bartender aka manager, most likely because she didn't to lose from her 18% tip that they automatically add for large groups.
  
  At the end of night, she gave us one lumped bill for everyone. She plopped the bill and abruptly left to avoid any requests or questions. Our server knew the bill would be an issue at the end of the night and could have had the decency or customer service to segregate our bills into groups of 4 instead of one $1,500 bill with an array of charges. We asked her to at least ask each person what they drank or to keep track as she took orders to help alleviate any confusion when paying our individual bills, it felt as if she refused assisting us in this because it would make her actually work for the couple of hundred dollar tip we will be giving her. Finally after much frustration at the end of the night our server brings the manager, which i asked if we could meet half way and said "all I ask is your server to ask each person what they drank what they're paying" he says "NO we do not separate bills" . I wanted them to help us tally each payment. I never asked him to separate the bill and he did not want to listen to me he just kept saying no and raising his voice at me and created a loud and embarrassing scene. I asked him why has our past servers been gracious enough in past years to do this, but he didn't have a answer.
  
  All i wanted from the staff was to make the process easier which meant that they have to actually put an effort into serving us. When the manager finally did approached me it was in a very aggressive manner and in close proximity to my face and then he tried to intimidate me because I wanted them to help us with the process! I've never had a problem with this restaurant nor other establishments, i go there once a month but after the awful service and disrespectful behaviour I got from the staff and the so called manager I'm never going back there ! Rather than focus on maybe adding a little work for your staff and disrespecting your customers, focus on making peoples events memorable in a good way! Needless to say all 15+ guests that joined me for my birthday that evening have left with the same unsavory feeling.
