  Today was the only chance I will have to go to the wilds of Scarborough, but the drive is well worth the time and gas. Looked around, and there is not much to look at, no coffee, nowhere to sit, just your basic store where you can watch the magic take place. The woman, part owner so I believe, was a little suspicious of me, of course she should I was looking at everything! The colours where amazing, I mean AMAZING, the Maillard reaction was reacting like there was someone with brown paint, and please understand, that golden colour is DEAD SEXY to me!
  Grabbed two baguettes, one Pana Rustika, just made cinnamon bun, two different cookies, and a croissant, and a pain au chocolat. First off, by far the best baguette ever, I mean crispy crust, chewy, soft inside, and lovely air pockets, imho best ever. The sourdough was dark and sexy just sitting there like it had been naughty. Great colour, crust, beautiful crumb, some large air holes, great oven spring, and not over powering sourness, people often become confused with sourdough if it is not sour. It just means the leaving agent is from the yeast on the grain, well done. Fresh baked cinnamon bun, yup fresh baked, how can that be bad, well the combination of the sweetness and the cinnamon where a great match, the bun was not too airy and was very chewy, again good job, nothing remotely like that crap at the mall. Did not have the cookies, for my daughter; mind you the texture was crispy yet chewy. The croissants were very good, a third or fourth imho. The colour was decent, the butter was there, but not the higher fat butter from France or North of Toronto, but don’t get me wrong, they are a fine croissant, and there a few better and much, much, much worse, I would purchase them again with no problem.
  All in all a GREAT boulangerie in the wilds of Scarborough, just a seat with a great cup of coffee would top the experience! Thank you for a job well done!

  You simply can't get better bread in the east end, maybe even all of Toronto. Don't come here if you're looking for a run of the mill white or whole wheat bread. The owners take pride in the old world recipes and local ingredients they use to craft their bread. The result is a flavourful, and healthy product that is addictive. The muesli bread is a hit when I've taken it on cottage weekends, and the buckwheat rye is delicious. The cookies and tarts are also spectacular. I'm sending my son out now to pick up some!

  I expected my kitchen to fill up with the wonderful scent of cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg wit the Christmas Tourtierre in the oven,but nothing! It was merely a pork hamburger with a top, its lack of charm matched only by the woman who sold it.
