- 2 / 5By Guy IncognitoAmazing, helpful staff. Penny-pinching upper management/owner makes it look awful. Used to go here all the time in the mornings, for years. Now you'll find me and lots of other local breakfast refugees in Starbucks or McDonalds.
The Picture: 6:30AM. Start of the early rush. People lining up to the door. Tables filled. One person on staff, serving registers, making drinks, preparing breakfast. Just one, sprinting across all those stations. In previous years I've seen a fresh staffer, alone, in tears as people wait fifteen minutes for a coffee and get angry. For a while they were getting the cook to help. Which meant nothing was prepared. They stopped doing that. So back to one person soloing the whole restaurant, putting on a brave, smiling face.
I decided to check it out again in the last few days. Still one person.
How can you support that? These workers are great, and friendly, and bust butt. And in reward, by showing up, you're ruining their day. Because the restaurant is too cheap to put one other probably underpaid employee for an extra hour on the payroll.
I'm not the only one staying away just to have a heart, and patronizing other local establishments who don't ruin their workers. If they want to dis-incentivize me from spending my money at their restaurant, fine. They aren't the only game in town. Heck, go to the other Timmies just a little west on St. Clair, that just opened. At least they have staff there, even though they're smaller and quieter.December 22, 2016 - 4 / 5By nuramina ShafiI love this Tim Hortons. Clean washrooms.
